About Fiona (Oregon)

Siberian Husky
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

This beautiful tri-colored husky pup is Fiona. She's a smaller girl at only 38# and 2 1/2 yrs. She loves to chew on bones and play her version of fetch - which means she'll bring the ball back CLOSE to you... She is super healthy, fully UTD, altered and great with dogs the same size as her or larger. She is active, but likes to cuddle when she is tired (which does happen, I swear.) Acting like a husky might be expected to, Fiona needs a secure, 6 ft. fully fenced yard, and thinks cats and smaller creatures are 'burritos on the hoof,' so she can not live with them. Although Fiona is super healthy, she has a history as well. Rescued out of one of the 5 highest kill shelters in CA, Fiona was a medical pull since a car had hit her. Her first vet thought a bone was broken, but consecutive vets saw no evidence of a break and concluded that Fiona had radial nerve damage. Initially, leg amputation was mentioned, but SHE WAS A PUPPY - so more long-term treatment was put in place. She takes Vit. E to help nerve growth, and has been cold lasered and medicated on a regular basis. Fiona has feeling in all of her toes, isn't reinjuring the foot and even when she holds the paw up (as if she has memory of the injury,) she takes off running thereafter at full speed. The vets say she is getting better, and that radial nerve damage can take over a year to heal. Fiona will need an owner that enforces boundaries, exercises with Fiona and goes to obedience training with Fiona. Going to obedience training is necessary for this adoption to happen and for Fiona to bond to her person. Fiona is house trained, crate trained and probably a little too rough for younger children, so Fiona will need a kid or kids 10 or over. This is a courtesy listing for one of our sister rescues, but feel free to contact [email protected] with questions. Fiona is waiting to meet you in Oregon. Transport may be available to approved adopters.
