About Alfie

Adoption Fee: $200
Chinese Crested mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Date into Rescue: 10/14/15 Reason for being in rescue: seizure due to his condition Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? yes, Alfie has food allergies. He can only eat rabbit kibble. Weight: est 18 lbs Height: est 12' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200.00 Fence needed 'No but he would enjoy a fenced in yard or some place to go play off leash a couple of times a week What kind of home would be best for me? Alfie came to CPR with hardly any hair and sarcoptic mange. After months of treatment, he was still having issues with his skin so off to vet he went. The vet's office staff decided they liked having Alfie around so much that they are fostering him until he gets adopted. On top of the mange, Alfie also has food allergies, and is now only able to eat rabbit based kibble. We are unsure of Alfie's true breeds. The breeds we listed are our best guess based on his looks and behavior. Alfie has grown a lot of his hair back, but we don't know if he is partly Chinese crested or if his skin is just so badly damaged that his hair just won't grow back in certain spots. Alfie has shown some resource guarding and would thrive best with an experienced patient adopter that can work with him on this issue. He guards his toys, bed, and his home. He would do best in a home with few visitors and no children. What is my personality like? Alfie is one smart boy! He knows how to sit and twirl, and he is a fairly quick study, especially when treats are involved. Alfie absolutely loves to play with toys, but he has shown some resource guarding with his toys so he needs to have some rules and structure when it comes to playtime. Alfie is determined, intelligent, independent, and loving. How I act when I first meet new people: Alfie is finicky with new people. He likes some new people and others he does not like. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: 5 years Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
