Returning to OCDRT on 3/6/2018 Laiken is being fostered in Cuyahoga Falls Laiken is a deaf, 2.5 year old, who finds herself returning to OCDRT due to no fault of her own. Life changes and that is why OCDRT always stands behind their foster dogs. Laiken is current on her vetting, including her Lyme & Influenza vaccines, so she can go for those hikes in the woods and attend day care. Laiken is a social butterfly who loves all humans and other dogs, however she prefers children over 10 years and is not a fan of the littler ones. She has not lived with a cat since she was with OCDRT at 5m of age, as always it's a training issue to not chase or harm. She is still crate trained, house trained, and knows her basic sign commands. She is ready to be active with you all day & she loves to snuggle when it's time to relax. Laiken is deaf so ACD experience is required and deaf dog experience is a bonus. A fenced in yard is required for her safe off leash potty and play time. Deaf ACDs are no different than hearing ones, you just have use your body language instead of your voice. UPDATE 3/14/2018: Laiken has a deposit from an approved applicant to hold her for a meeting on 3/25. We will update after her meeting. If interested please email [email protected] for an application to start the process. Below is her prior bio: New to OCDRT on 3/6/2016 from Louisiana. Laiken (LAYkin) is being fostered in Creston Ohio. Laiken is around 5 months old and 31#. Around 10 weeks of age she was owner surrendered to a vet clinic when it was discovered she is deaf. A Rescue stepped up for her and gave her very good care until OCDRT was asked to help. We happily said yes if she could make it to us. After a 2 day transport Laiken arrived very calm and friendly. She did amazing in her transport and was quite the social traveler. Laiken wanted to meet her foster siblings after touring the yard so we complied. She did very well and started playing. We will schedule her spay and microchip (3/24) and finish her vaccines. Laiken will be crate trained, work on house training, foundation skills, and general obedience. She will require an ACD savvy home & deaf dog experience is a plus. Check back for updates as she settles in over the next two weeks. UPDATE 3/14/2016: Laiken has a deposit with an approved applicant to hold her until she is ready to go home around 4/2.
