About Slim Shady

Domestic Cat
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Slim Shady (FIV+) has been with us for a couple of years now - while he initially came to us to recover from some non-FIV related issues that he encountered while living as a free-roaming cat, he did so well that we took him off out of our sanctuary program and have placed him on our adoption list. At the time of Slim's rescue, he was very thin and had so many puncture wounds that we hardly knew where to start to nurse him back to health. As you can see, Slim has made a remarkable recovery and is ready to be re-homed; he is slim no more! Slim is male, approximately 5 years old (as of Sept. 2017), up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. Slim is missing the tip of his right ear, presumably due to frostbite. You'll also notice in his photo that it appears that he has a deformity on his lower lip - no deformity, just the coloring of his skin which is lighter on the outside of his lip - you'll notice that his nose has the same color pattern. We, here at GGOH, think it gives him kind of a cute little smirk. ;) Slim is completely toothless due to complications he encountered with his FIV but it doesn't stop him from eating both hard and soft food. He does best when on a restricted diet, but his food is mostly supplemental and he does okay with a mixture of regular food and dietary food. Slim is great with kids of all ages but older children would be best as slim does like to put his paws up on you and if his nails aren't kept short, they could be troublesome for a youngster - he doesn't scratch, but he does like to grip you to show you he loves you. He is such a love! FIV is not a death sentence - actually, it's far from it. Slim can go on to live a long, healthy life if given a proper diet and regular vet visits are kept up with. If you are interested in Slim Shady and would like to know more about him and learn more about his FIV status, just give us a call or stop by - we would be happy to discuss him with you. This boy is on everybody's favorite list - we have a feeling he might be on yours as well once you meet him!
