Courtesy Posting: ORANGE COUNTY, CA (IRVINE IN S CAL)- STUNNING, 40 lb YOUNG MALE CHOW OR CHOW X 'TOFU' IN NEED OF A LOVING, RESPONSIBLE CHOW/SPITZ BREED SAVVY HOME Please help us find a chow or spitz or Asian breed savvy home for Tofu who was saved from the Riverside shelter by a good Samaritan and spent the effort to nurse him back to health. Tofu is estimated to now be 2.5 years young, perfectly sized at only 40 lbs, and has stunning and unique yellow/green eyes and may be mixed with another spitz breed such as Samoyed or husky too. Tofu has been living with another male chow for the past year, and has received training with the guidance of a professional trainer and can be very obedient when given clear instructions. We are told Tofu 'is friendly with people when properly introduced, he loves being petted but sensitive when people reaching over the top of his head. Neutral toward other dogs in public, slight case of resource guarding (do not feed near other animals) at home, improving with training'. Tofu also has good reports from where he goes to boarding and they describe him as a sweet boy who loves his walks and food. However, we understand he did have a minor bite initially when someone grabbed his collar suddenly, and more recently when he was startled from being asleep. Neither bite required stitches, but he is recommended to continue with training and to go slowly with new people, particularly over his head. Since Tofu is said to be very food motivated, please keep food bowls separated from other dogs, and a meet and greet with another dog would be required. No children are recommended in the home. Tofu is potty trained, current on shots and neutered. His current home says he is also low energy in the house and enjoys sleeping, but energetic when playing and training. Tofu is walked three times a day around 30 mins each time. Moderate walks are good enough to burn his excess energy. We have nice videos of Tofu interacting with people and the larger chow he lives with currently. If you are chow/spitz or Asian breed savvy and are interested in meeting and adopting Tofu, please contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist with his placement. All adopters will be asked for a home check (which may be virtual), an application, a vet reference, proof of prior chows, and a signed adoption contract.
