About MACI

MACI is a 1.5 year old, 11.7 pound Maltese surrendered to find a new home. She is a very sweet girl who needs time, patience, and love to be a perfect little companion. MACI is still learning what it means to be a pet. She has made amazing progress in her foster home and continues to learn from her little doggy companion every day. She's affectionate, gentle, and food-motivated at mealtimes. She's still hesitant to take treats by hand and praise works best for her training right now. MACI can be shy and skittish, and and still moves away when you reach for her, especially if you're standing up, but once she lets you pick her up, she's easygoing and cooperative. She'll need gentle encouragement and lots of positive reinforcement to continue building confidence and trust in her person. MACI is going to learn best from another dog in the home and gets along well with her foster sibling. A small dog in her home is required. Because of her timid nature, she would do best in a calm home with no children. We do not know how she would be with cats. MACI enjoys time in the yard where she can zoom around, explore, or simply relax in the sunshine. After a slow start, she is doing wonderfully with potty training, she'll even go to the door when she needs to go out. A securely fenced yard in her new home is non-negotiable. At night, MACI sleeps quietly through the night in the big bed and loves to cuddle once she feels comfortable. MACI has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. *A Place of Hope Rescue is a foster-based rescue located in Pensacola, Florida.
