Courtesy Posting: X URGENT AT SAN BERNARDINO CITY SHELTER WHICH IS FULL - ADORABLE, YOUNG CHOW X 'TYRA' (a.k.a. TYCHO) ID #A583986 - GIVES STAFF LICKS & DOG FRIENDLY. Just made adoptable and had gender update, she is a she! AT SAN BERNARDINO CITY SHELTER - NEEDS LOVING AND RESPONSIBLE HOME OR FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP TO SAVE HER BEFORE SHE IS EUTHANIZED FOR SPACE! Shelter describes as 'SWEET'. Help! The SBC shelter is full, and is sadly now dealing with a distemper outbreak so all dogs there get very little time. Both dogs have already been treated for earlier nasal discharge and placed on doxy on 8/27 for 14 days, and have since finished this and have no more medical noted at this time. Young Tyra was found as a stray, along with a friend, Berry, believed to be her sister. The shelter had mistakenly identified both as males where they were overlooked, and just updated their listing to be female. The girls can be adopted, fostered, rescued separately, although if anyone can take both, that's even better, but not required given saving one is better than none, and will allow the other one to hopefully also then find placement on her own. The two girls are currently kenneled together and thus believed to be dog friendly with others. Both dogs are estimated to be only 2 years old, weigh 60 lbs and have unique black and tan coloring and were originally Rescue only after being mislabeled initially as aggressive by the intake officer when were just scared. However, in their kennel, even early shelter notes indicated both dogs approached the kennel fence when staff approached, have a 'swishy' tail wag, with open mouth and a loose face. Tyra even licked staff, while Berry pressed her head to gate to solicit attention However, because they were reactive to the leash (from fear going over the head, likely from earlier being catch poled), both dogs had not yet been made adoptable until more recently. They can be seen in videos happily approaching the kennel fence. Shelter notes from 9/5 state 'Dog was wagging tail entire time, allowed petting on head', and from 9/13, the shelter told us, 'these sweet girls were sexed incorrectly on intake and were labelled as male. Upon being moved out to our general kennels, the error was noted and they were updated! I've attached their kennel cards for you. They are social with people and other dogs; their only concern is that they have no leash training and need to be carried. They are adoptable, and we would love for them to find placement with a rescue or adopter who has experience with the breed!'
