We are looking to rehome our dog Lucas. He's a 2-year-old Border Collie / German Shepherd mix with the sweetest soul. When we adopted him 4 months ago, he was sick with bronchitis and barely had the energy to get into the car at the shelter. We were told he was a 'couch potato.' But once he recovered, his true spirit came alive-playful, goofy, endlessly loving, and always ready for snuggles. Lucas is incredibly smart and eager to please. He learns quickly, is food-motivated, and already knows many commands (come, stay, kennel, jump, shake, around, focus). He adores dogs and has a wonderful, balanced play style with them. (When he was found as a stray he was with 5 other siblings) At home, he's a cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be close to his person, offering both affection and protection. But like many rescues with a rough start, Lucas has one challenge-he struggles with resource guarding of his favorite person. Because of this, he needs a calm, adult-only home with someone experienced who can continue his training and help him feel secure. With the right person, he will be the most loyal, loving, and devoted companion. He needs continued training with no tug walking and reactivity training. He has a bite history, and will need a dedicated handler with experience. Lucas is neutered, microchipped, up to date on shots, and recently vetted. He's ready for his forever person-someone who sees the sweet, playful dog he is and is willing to give him the patience and structure he needs to shine. I am not asking for a rehoming fee- rather if you are able and willing, a donation to cover his veterinary expenses would help endlessly. We are a very low income family so any bit helps, Lucas finding a forever home would help the most (3
