About Koda

***In need of a furever home - please adopt*** Name: Koda Age: 2 years (estimated) Breed: Husky/Carolina Dog Mix (we believe) Location: Columbia, SC Rehoming fee: none (but will require fee to cover costs if you would like to keep collar/pincher collar/leash/long/etc.) Introducing Koda! This boy is a SWEETHEART! He was found by myself on Piney Woods Rd., and we just can't keep him. We do not have the space for a fourth dog, and besides this fella and my 6 year old shepherd can't seem to get along. We have been working with them for a few months now and just can't seem to make progress, so for his safety and the rest of our household, unfortunately, Koda needs to find a new home asap. Unfortunately , shelters are overrun and we all know what happens if he is surrendered to the shelter. He gets along great with my other two dogs and both cats (curious of cats but not too overbearing - walks away when redirected). With his striking looks and confident strut, he turns heads wherever he goes. But don't be fooled by his dashing appearance-he's also got a goofy side that's just waiting to come out! Koda has been house broken and crate trained. He whines when he needs to go out (and that is the only time he whines), and goes in the crate smoothly with a yummy stuffed Kong when it's time to leave the house (we have never left him uncrated while not home, so we are unsure of how he will act). He will give a toy chase a try (great form, 10/10 sprint!), but after the first toss, he is reminded that toys really aren't his thing. He'd rather be out and about, soaking up the sights and smells. He loves walking/hiking/exploring outside. He does pull on the leash at first, but with some consistent training (and maybe a no-pull harness-we have been using a pincher and it's done wonderfully), he'll be walking like a prince in no time. This beautiful boy is looking for a balanced adopter who can help him channel his enthusiasm and charm into learning some more manners and having big fun - he is a quick learner and seems to want to be trained. He needs an adopter who enjoys the occasional outdoor adventure but also that loves to snuggle because Koda can be just as much of a couch potato as he is an adventurer. If you've got love, patience, and maybe a fenced yard-Koda is ready to be your adventure buddy and loyal sidekick! All this boy wants is love! He will definitely be a Velcro dog - follow you around and sit next to you wherever you go. He enjoys sleeping in your bed, with you, but I'm sure with consistent training, he would be willing to sleep in his own spot. He is also very vocal (he's definitely got some husky in him)! He will bark/growl/talk/howl in excitement with his tail wagging 100mph when you walk into the house after being gone (even if for a short period). He just needs someone willing to train on leash (bc he is terrible about pulling on leash) and willing to give him unconditional love. This good boy just wants your love and attention.
