About Daisy

Adoption Fee: $50
Beagle mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Daisy is a sweet, loyal companion who quickly bonds with her people and loves nothing more than spending time with them. Whether it's going for walks, exploring the yard, following you around the house, or simply snuggling up on the couch, Daisy is happiest when she's close by your side. There's nothing sweeter than when she rests her head on your lap or greets you after being apart. Daisy has a moderate energy level. When she's indoors, she is incredibly chill and relaxed. She just likes to hangout with her people and get pets and snuggles. She will follow you around, but otherwise will just chill, watch out the window, and very occasionally play with her toys. The occasional zoomies are hilarious and sweet! She loves to go for walks and run in the backyard. Daisy is wonderful inside the house! She is fully potty trained and crate trained - she currently sleeps through the night in her crate and can be left for many hours outside of her crate during the day without any issues. She does not chew and only barks very occasionally. She knows 'sit' and 'paw' and is working on 'leave it' and has decent recall when called. Daisy enjoys two longer walks (45-60 min) a day, but the days she doesn't get this much exercise, she is still really well behaved and just likes to snooze or hang with her people. If you have a backyard for her to roam and run in, she would love that! The outside world can be a little overwhelming for Daisy - she is leash reactive toward other dogs and has a strong prey drive for small critters. She may bark or growl at other dogs and has some stranger danger, but with calm, consistent guidance, she warms up to new faces. She would thrive in calm, consistent environment with someone who can spend some time helping her out of her shell. A home with no children or other pets would likely be best, but she was fostered with a calm, older dog in the past. We do not think she had a chance to learn to 'play' in the past, so younger, energetic dogs can be stressful for her. With patience and help she could likely warm up and adjust - she is very resilient! As noted, she is leash reactive toward dogs and we tend to avoid interactions with other dogs because of it. However, it has gotten better with time and her original foster family had a dog - so it may be something she could grow out of. She does better meeting new people when she's in the safety of her own home and off leash, rather than on walks. Daisy's reactions are rooted in nervousness, fear, and protection/guarding of her favorite people rather than aggression. She would do best with someone patient who can help her build confidence in a slow and calm home. While there are certainly things to work on, Daisy is overall very easy to care for on a daily basis and has so much love and goofiness to share! Daisy is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her basic vaccinations. She does not have any special medical conditions or dietary needs. She's healthy, agile, and in great spirits. Anyone adopting Daisy would be so lucky to have her join your life.
