URGENT FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED FOR ROSE! Rose's story is one of survival and heartbreak. On May 6, 2025, Rose was found wandering alone through a senior community in Riverside- skinny, filthy, and covered in ticks. She looked like she had given up on life. Animal control was on the way, and she was hours away from being taken to a high-kill shelter, where she would've likely been euthanized. A kind maintenance worker stayed with her until we could get there and we saved her just in time. Since then, Rose has made a full recovery. She's healthy, spayed, tick-free, and full of love. She adores people, gets along with dogs, and lights up when she's around kids. She's gentle, affectionate, and just wants to belong. But today. Our hearts are broken for her. Again. A family reached out, saying they were 99.9% sure they were going to adopt Rose. They just wanted to make sure their small dogs got along with her. Jennifer spent hours talking with them, answering every question, sharing every detail. She even had Rose professionally groomed to make a great impression. That Sunday morning, they confirmed they were on their way. Rose was bathed, brushed, ready. Jennifer took time away from her own family to facilitate the meet and greet. And they never showed up. No call. No text. Nothing. Rose waited patiently all day. When she realized no one was coming, she was quietly led back to boarding. Later that afternoon, we finally received a text from the family saying they had stopped to meet another dog along the way and adopted him instead. No apology. Just: 'We hope Rose finds her loving forever home.' This is the part people don't see. The hours rescuers spend. The hope we build. The time, the care, the emotional investment. And worst of all, what it does to the dog who thought today was finally her day. Please, if you commit to fostering or adopting, and something changes, call us. Don't ghost. Don't disappear. We understand things happen. But silence and no-shows are heartbreaking. For the people who pour their lives into saving these souls and even more so, for the dogs who have already been through enough. Rose deserves better. Rose is a 7-year-old petite Shepherd mix, only 56 lbs, incredibly sweet and calm, and loves everyone she meets. She's fully vetted and ready for a home. She needs a foster or adopter immediately. Boarding is no longer sustainable. Can you help? Contact Jennifer with Pumpkin Pawz Rescue at (714) 366-8170 (text is best), if you can help. Please share. Rose deserves to finally feel safe, loved, and chosen.
