My muzzle is turning white, and sometimes my bones ache a little when I get up. I don't move quite as fast as I used to, but I still have so much love to give. Five years ago, I was adopted by a man and his teenage daughter. When life changed and he had to move into a small apartment, he couldn't bring me-so I went to live with his daughter. She was my person, my safe place, my whole world. For years, I slept by her side every night. She was my comfort, and I was hers. But then life got busy. She got married. There was already a 10-year-old girl in the house, and soon after came a baby. That baby is 8 months old now��%BD��%BD%BD'��%BD��%BD%BD| and there's another little one on the way. I've been so good with the kids. I love them, I really do. But as the days got fuller and fuller, I slowly found myself fading into the background. I don't sleep next to her anymore. Instead, I sleep alone in another room. I wait quietly, hoping she'll come sit with me like she used to. Hoping I'll hear my name said with love, feel a gentle hand on my head, or have someone curl up next to me when the world feels too big. Now they've decided they can't keep me anymore. I know she still cares, but there just isn't enough time for me anymore. And I can feel it in my heart-I'm lonely. I'm not ready to give up yet. I still wag my tail when someone comes near. I still perk up for treats, for walks, for even the smallest bit of attention. I still believe that someone out there wants me-not just to live in their house, but to be part of their heart. I'm Willow. I'm 10. I'm gentle. I'm loving. I'm housebroken. And I just want a soft place to lay my head and a person who will never forget about me.
