Courtesy Posting: CODE RED- 9/5@2 pm deadline to exit! No extensions! RESCUE ONLY DUE TO FEAR, MAY HAVE SOME MEDICAL NEEDED AND OR MINOR INJURY! 'TEDDY' AT SAN BERNARDINO CITY SHELTER - NEEDS CHOW SAVVY FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP TO SAVE HIS LIFE- ID #A584286 - San Bernardino City Shelter, in S Cal Help! The SBC shelter is full, and is sadly now dealing with a distemper outbreak so dogs get very little time. Young Teddy was found as a stray and fearful as many chows are in a shelter environment, and was therefore placed on the euthanasia list already. We are in desperate need to find a chow savvy foster and rescue to exit him prior to the given deadline. He is estimated to be only 3 years old and is stunning and we were given several videos we will post on Facebook. You can see he is just scared, and also has a lot of goop in his right eye, possibly an infection. The shelter told us, 'This guy is extremely fearful and has exhibited fear-based aggressive behavior while here. Due to this, he is not considered adoptable, but he can be pulled by a rescue organization. He is still being assessed for a possible injury; however, the reporting animal control did not provide details. He needs to be assessed by our RVT team to determine if he actually is injured and to what extend. However, he appears to be stable in kennel and does not have any severe visually apparent injuries. Given his reactivity and need for rescue placement, it has been determined that he be placed on an urgent deadline for 9/5/25 at 2PM.' Additionally, please note this shelter unfortunately has a distemper outbreak and insufficient tests, so they recommend testing any dog, and we recommend keeping any dog coming out of this shelter separate from other dogs until more is known. 'Rescue only' means only a rescue group can pull him out of the shelter (he cannot be adopted directly from the shelter, you need to go through a rescue group) to save him. However, rescues need fosters and a place for a dog to go. Therefore, if you are interested to foster or foster to adopt him, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with his placement. His shelter listing link is: https://24petconnect.com/SanBernardinoCityShelterPets/Details/SBCT/A584286 Please notes rescue groups typically need a foster to save a dog. We will to pair you with a willing rescue group in time. Rescues should contact San Bernardino City Animal Control at (909) 384-1304 and also by email [email protected] asap and note his ID.
