About Axel

Axel (fka Conroy) was picked up as a stray in TX and no one came to reclaim him. He is an approx 1-2 y/o, 20# Corgi with an abundance of energy. Easily distracted, Axel will begin to focus more over the next few months now that he's neutered. He's a sweet and friendly boy who enjoys leisurely sniff walks, digging in his water bowl, and scouring your home for dropped snackos. Not overly confident but super playful with other dogs. He'd wrestle all day if there's a dog or dogs willing to oblige so preference will be given to a home with a friendly playmate. Axel requires a patient owner committed to working with him and taking him out (and going out with him) very frequently to continue his positive reinforcement potty training and to not mark indoors. He's about 80 percent potty trained. Axel would benefit from a basic manners class which would also help him gain some confidence. He's good on a leash but doesn't love loud scary noises so a quiet rural or suburban home with a secure fenced yard is required. Axel's front tendons need some strengthening help so he needs some daily exercises that make him use his 'hands'. Axel did well with the older kids in his foster home in TX so respectful kids 10+ may be considered. He has not been tested with cats.
