His journey has been long and winding, and now he's hoping to find a soft place to land for his golden years. Roger's story spans several states: He was originally found as a stray puppy in Iowa. A police officer took him in but rehomed him after getting a K9 partner. Roger then lived for years with a family and their three dogs - until they moved to Virginia and rehomed all their animals. From there, his path gets unclear. He was listed 'free to a good home' and somehow ended up as a stray again, this time in Georgia. His microchip led back to the Midwest, but no one has stepped forward for him. Through it all, Roger has remained an incredible dog - friendly with dogs, cats, and kids, with a sweet, gentle spirit. He's still got some spunk left, too: he loves to play fetch and relax in the sunshine. While he's a little stiff getting up and down, he enjoys short play sessions and hanging out with his dog friends. Roger is hoping to catch a ride to Wisconsin on 9/6, but he'll need a committed foster or adopter lined up to make the trip. He can be adopted right off the van - someone just needs to be there to welcome him home.
