Meet Rook! This gentle giant has come a long, long way-and now he's ready for a second chance at life. Rook is a 75 lb Lab/Boxer/Mastiff mix who was abandoned alongside his brother, Finch, in an empty house. While Finch stayed behind, Rook set off-maybe in search of help, maybe just to survive. He returned after Finch had been rescued and was safely brought in through a humane trap. When Rook first arrived, he was completely shut down-terrified, frozen in fear, and unresponsive. Animal Control thought he wouldn't make it. But with time, patience, and a little love, Rook began to open up. He went from staring at the wall to leaning in for hugs. From frozen with fear to wagging his tail when he hears, 'Where's my buddy?!' Now, Rook walks on a leash, gently takes treats, and proudly shows off his 'sit.' He's still got a quiet, soulful presence-but it's paired with a soft sweetness that shines brighter every day.
