He came to us from Arkansas, where he was found as a stray - sadly, no one ever came to claim him. But Maverick's story took a lucky turn: a kind-hearted veterinary clinic employee who also volunteers at the local shelter saw what an awesome guy he is and arranged for him to board at the vet clinic instead of entering the shelter. He was safe, cared for, and given the chance to catch his ride north to Wisconsin on our April transport. Maverick was adopted in early May, but due to his adopter's unexpected health issues, he's now searching again for the forever home he deserves. This handsome guy is housebroken, crate trained, and absolutely loves his crate - it's his cozy retreat. He walks well on the leash with a harness or prong collar. Maverick has also mastered a few commands and is eager to keep learning. His previous adopter did several training sessions with a professional dog trainer to work on leash walking and all of the normal young dog behaviors so he has a good base of knowledge under he belt. He's a medium-energy pup who thrives with regular activity throughout the day - whether it's a long walk, a hike, a romp at the dog park, or just playing in the backyard. Once he gets some energy out, he's ready to chill on the couch. He LOVES other dogs and has not met another dog he doesn't like. He is submissive to the dominant females. He is currently fostered with cats and does fine with them. He adores playing with other dogs, is well-mannered at the dog park, and has a great recall when called. He just finished a weekend up north camping and did awesome. He was quiet in the tent at night, got a long with all the other dogs and people, and was off leash the entire time! He's also wonderful with kids and has lived peacefully with cats, making him a great fit for a variety of home environments. He even enjoys grooming, vet visits, swimming, and scent work! If you're looking for a kind-hearted, smart, and well-rounded companion, Maverick may be just the one. __________ Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up to date dewormer, vaccinations, heart worm prevention (age appropriate) and certified veterinarian inspection within 30 days of adoption. __________ Review adoption requirements and ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply! https://www.muttlife.org/adoption-policies _________ ADOPTION PROCESS: 1.)
