About Dexter

Dexter is a beautiful German Shepherd with a story of resilience and hope. He was rescued from the Animal Foundation on August 10th, just hours before being placed on death row. When he came in, Dexter had been caught in a fence, was malnourished, and had painful burnt paws. Despite his rough past, he showed immediate gentleness and calmness with us and our children. Dexter has since been neutered and received a full veterinary check. He does have a mild heart murmur (as reported by the vet) and currently has a sore muscle on his right side, but he has no signs of hip dysplasia. His strength and spirit shine through every day. This smart boy already knows basic commands, is fully potty trained, and has a calm alpha demeanor. Dexter is great with children and loves to play. He has shown that he prefers eating separately from other animals, and he especially adores being close to females. He will happily follow you from room to room just to be near you. One of Dexter's quirks is his escape-artist talent-he's managed to get out of locked kennels, even losing a tooth in the process. This just shows how determined and clever he is, and with the right environment, he will thrive as your loyal protector and companion. Dexter's perfect home will be one where he can feel secure, loved, and part of the family. He promises to repay that love with fierce loyalty, playful energy, and endless gratitude.
