Sweet Pea is a 1-year-old Chihuahua Mix. She is quiet and very nervous when first meeting new people, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into an energetic, playful and loving little girl. She is comfortable in a dog bed, in a kennel or cuddling up with her person (or people). She adjusts to new spaces relatively quickly. Although she is good with other dogs, giving her time to adjust to them is as important as her adjustment space needed in getting to know new humans. She is not very verbal and when she is, it tends to be more of a whiny than any barking. In fact, her current foster has not heard her bark at all. She is pee pad trained and does very well walking on a leash. Sweet Pea is a very smart little girl and consequently, confining her to spaces that are not fully secure, can be a challenge. She can get over kiddy gates and in yards that have fence damage, could easily find her way out. So, ensuring that any containment is secure would be paramount in her new home. Sweet Pea has come to prefer a diet of boiled chicken and vegetables which has helped her to maintain a calm digestive system. However, with doctors' guidance, she could likely adapt to a quality dog food diet over time. Sweet Pea is current on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative. She is currently being fostered in Fredericksburg, VA and is available for an adoption fee of $450.00.
