About Winnie

Meet Winnie, a loyal and playful girl who has an irresistible smile and a lovely spirit! This very pretty two-year-old mix loves taking walks and playing fetch and tug of war with her stuffies. She also loves a kong with special treats in it. Winnie is happiest on her walks and is very good on the leash (and this is coming from a dog walker!). While out strolling, she is friendly to people when they say hello. She doesn't seem fazed by other dogs barking at her and has shown a playful interest toward some of them. Winnie has a moderate energy level and thrives on a daily routine. She likes to play out in the yard, but is just as content being near you on a lazy day. She is comfortable being left alone in the house without a crate. She is very well-behaved and has no destructive tendencies. She is also house-trained, knows the command 'sit' and gently takes treats. Winnie was recently adopted by a loving family with young kids, but coming from Texas they'd never met in person. It turns out a less active home without kids would have been a much better match. Rehoming is sad, but it will give Winnie a second chance to get the right forever home. Something may have happened in Winnie's past because she gets very upset whenever someone reaches for her while she's lying down. To understand this behavior as well as set her up for success in a new home, Winnie was evaluated by a trainer with credentials in behavior. Winnie did great throughout the eval! The resulting training plan is to desensitize her to those 'scary' outreached arms. The trainer believes a quieter home without youngsters is still best, though the current owners will work with her until she is re-adopted. Winnie is very sweet and loving, and has what it takes to be an incredible companion. Despite a life without stability, she is a resilient dog who happens to be a sparkly treasure!
