About Winter

Lab / Beagle
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Winter !! We recently took in winter and her siblings (summer, spring and fall) from an awful situation. The owners threw them all outside to roam around and live on their own. They refused to bring them inside to safety to give us time to save them. Thankfully a neighbor saw this and over a few days helped catch them all for us. They were dirty, covered in fleas, full of worms and under socialized. Thankfully we have resolved those issues and they are ready to go to great homes. Winter looks like a beagle and lab mix puppy but the owner told the neighbor they were beagle and golden mix. They are approx 5-6 months old and not very big. We estimate medium size full grown. She is currently only 24 pounds. She will be given several sets of vaccines, dewormed, a microchip and spayed as part of her adoption. Winter was terrified of people at first but now that's she's learned that all people aren't scary she's become a clingy cuddle bug. Shes active and playful but prefers to be glued to her people. She will follow you all around and does well coming when you call her. She loves other dogs and takes direction and correction very well from other dogs, even tiny entitled chihuahuas. She is not fostered with kids but did great with the kids she met. She does some jumping up but is fairly gentle about it. She has not met any cats yet but is young enough to learn. She has not had any trouble sharing food treats and toys. Winter is still young and learning all her training. She wasn't shown how to behave prior to coming to us but is learning quickly. She is not completely potty trained but is starting to get the idea, her foster has a doggie door and she does use that. She is crate trained but can be very vocal in there. She's learning but isn't perfect with it. She did fine in the car and did not get sick. She will need more leash training. They had clearly never been on a leash before we got them so it was very scary for them. They are starting to understand it more now but will require additional help from their new owners. Winter is currently a moderately active girl. She has a medium energy level. She enjoys to play and explorer but really likes to snuggle. She is also smart and eager to learn. She loves to explore and play. As she settles in she may become a more active puppy and need more physical and mental stimulation to keep her happy and out of trouble. Overall this baby girl is so sweet and wants to be loved. She was let down by her previous owners and is looking for a family to be as loyal to her as she will be to them. Adopting a young puppy is a ton of work. They will have lots of potty accidents, chew things up etc. You will need to help them learn things like leash walking, crate training and basic manners. It can be a lot of work but the reward is a dog that fits well into your family's lifestyle if you invest proper time on training with them. Please carefully consider the time and effort a puppy requires before adopting. We do NOT adopt siblings into the same family. Before commenting on how sad etc, you feel that is please google 'littermate syndrome' so you can understand why we take this precaution. It is done in the best interest of the puppies. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA.
