About Precious

I am reaching out about an Australian Cattle Dog Mix named Precious (A1857321). She was brought into the shelter with another dog due to having an elderly owner unable to care for either dog. Precious' dog sibling was adopted but Precious has yet to be adopted. Precious has been at the shelter since June 22, 2025. I have been working with Precious for a little over a month and I see the same wonderful qualities that I see in the Cattle Dog Breed. Precious is starting to learn to sit on command, walks well on a leash, and is good with people. What I love is she likes to walk with a stuff animal when go out on a walk. I am taking her out for a doggie day out this weekend to get her further exposure and note her behavior among groups of people. I have watched Precious interact with other dogs through a gate and she appears to do well. On her day out, Precious interacted with numerous dogs (small to large) and did very well. Again, she did come into the shelter with a family sibling who was her play buddy. What I know is she needs a loving family who understand the Cattle Dog breed and advocates who explain the needs of this type of breed to people, because I can see how special Precious will be for a family. Precious is shy at first but once she gets to know you she will give you her heart, like the one shown on her chest.
