East Valley Animal Shelter has a Staffordshire on Euthanasia alert list HIGH FAS, 'Max', #A2209126 E.O.D 8/5/25!!!! Video: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1798245277786405?fs=e&mibextid=wwXIfr&fs=e Shelter: East Valley Age: 5 years, Weight: 73lbs. Has been at the shelter since 07/14/25. Reason for euthanasia: 'Max' continues showing high levels of kennel stress & is under medication to calm him down. At this time his behavioral is declining. Owner surrender for 'no home' in mid-July. Max is absolutely crazy for balls and loves to chase (and guard) them. If he has a ball there's nothing else he cares about not even treats. Owner surrender notes describe him as playful and energetic - he knows how to sit. According to the prior owner he lived with teenagers and another dog. Max has not shown barrier reactivity while walking or in the yard. Max has been in multiple playgroups and his notes vary, he doesn't really play. He is described as tolerant but mainly keeps to himself, some stiffness with males. Max doesn't like being mounted, in a smaller session he nicely played with a social female dog for a while. He got anxious after a bit and wanted to leave the yard. He fixates on balls / toys outside the yard. volunteer notes: Max was calmly sitting at his kennel door when I walked up. Was able to read his notes/OS notes and he waited patiently. Leashed him easily through door. He joined a gentle group of chill and a few playful dogs. He was tolerant and mingled. Some stiffness with males and didn`t like being mounted but was steerable. Dipped into the pools and allowed pets from handlers. After he got comfortable he started to play with a social female and was looking nice and loose. Towards the end of the session he got a bit anxious pawing and whining at the back fence asking to leave so returned without issue.
