About Winter Joy

Pit Bull
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Did the summer's hot and humid days make you think of cool, crisp weather? Hold that thought and consider sharing it with a sweet girl named Winter Joy. She is a six-year-old, 48-pound blue female terrier from Winthrop, MA in need of a new home. Winter does not disappoint. She captivates everyone she meets. Like any proper hostess, she greets every person, stranger or friend, with hugs and kisses. She's also wonderful with children. She has an overall calm demeanor, but you'll love her bursts of energy in which zoomie time is show time. Winter is wonderful on leash and enjoys long walks which she is used to having each day. She is also a perfect traveling companion. Her favorite entertainment is walking around the yard to sniff out critters; sunbathing is a close second. Though she likes to play, she's also a couch potato who enjoys sleeping much of the day. At night she continues this trend by burrowing into blankets to snuggle with her person before drifting off to a deep sleep complete with snoring. Her contentment is contageous. If you want a faithful friend who treats you like royalty, and who truly enjoys being with you, let Winter be your castel's steward and part-time court jester. She will gladly 'help' her person around the house all day, but miss you when you're away. In fact, Winter needs someone who is home most of the day and who will send her to doggy daycare for long stretches. When left alone, she gets anxious enough to chew on things such as clothes (hats are her favorite even when you are home, so keep those out of reach!) Winter does not like crates, but she's housetrained, healthy, spayed, has all her shots, and comes with pet insurance paid through December. Winter must be your only pet. Initially she did well with other dogs in her current home, but has since changed her mind. She gets very stressed out when close to other dogs and will go after them. She is working with a trainer to improve her reactivity, but she will still need a home without them.
