About Rupert

Rupert came to us in a most unusual way. His story: I was mowing a lawn when it started raining. I left my truck door open to get a drink from the house, and when I got back, I found him in the passenger's seat (pic bottom center). He was skinny and scared. Tried to locate his owner, but no one claimed him. I'd just lost my old dog the week before, so after a week, I thought I could keep him. Vet checked healthy, probably born in Dec. 2024. Possibly foxhound, pointer, Great Dane mix. He is 45# now, July 25. Vet predicts 70-80 full growth. Treated for hookworms and fleas. Had him neutered and chipped a few weeks later, and started on simpatico for heartworms, fleas and ticks. Rupert is very smart, and he is learning new things all the time. Sit, paw, lay, up. He's learning the leash, and when he is doing great with housebreaking! No accidents now for 3 weeks! He is kennel trained now too. He didn't know what to do with toys when I got him, but he loves them now. He will destroy weak things, so aggressive-chew toys only! His favorite is the chuck-it ultra ball. He's been with us for 3 months, and I'd forgotten how much work and energy go into a puppy. I'm older and our family (including teen grandchildren) doesn't have the time or desire to train another big dog right now. We haven't all recovered from our loss. We saved him from the street, but we need to find him a forever home. His new 30'x48' wire kennel, toys, leashes, tie-outs, paperwork for chip registration and remaining food will be included.
