About BELLA

BELLA is a 3-year-old, 12 lb Rat Terrier with a big heart and a protective spirit. She came to us from a tough situation with her puppies in tow after her homeless owner left them with a Good Samaritan. BELLA was a fiercely loving and loyal mama and did an amazing job raising her babies. Now that they've found homes, Bella has adopted two new 'babies': her beloved green squeaky dog bone and a headless yellow banana toy and she guards them just as fiercely! BELLA is a sweet, loyal girl who loves attention and playing with toys. She's a classic 'stranger danger' barker, she'll sound the alarm when someone new comes around, tail wagging the whole time. She's never snapped or shown aggression, but she's not afraid to stand her ground and look tough if she needs to, something she probably picked up guarding her owner and pups while living without the security of a home. Underneath, she's all love and wants a home where she gets plenty of affection. She will not be happy spending long hours away from her person. BELLA enjoys hanging out in the yard, soaking up sun spots, and snoozing in the big bed at night. She's doing great with her house training (about 90% there) and has learned to use the dog door. With a consistent schedule, she'll have it mastered in no time, she's a smart cookie! BELLA would do best in a home with a fenced yard (no apartment living for this little watchdog). She'd prefer to be your one and only, but could live with another dog her size or a bit bigger, ideally a friendly male. Because she's never been around young kids, we think she'd do best with older, respectful kids who know how to handle a small dog gently. BELLA has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm negative, has had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. She does have mild luxating patella (2/4), but it doesn't slow her down at all. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, BELLA might be your perfect match.
