About Luci

Luci is a small, soulful dog with a big heart and an even bigger need for a safe, understanding home. She's had a tough past that left her with anxiety, and she's still working through it - but with the right person, she blossoms. Luci is deeply loyal and bonds intensely with her person - and for her, that person must be female. She's not shy about letting others know when she feels uncomfortable: she'll bark (a lot!) at strangers, especially men, and isn't suited for homes with children. But give her time, patience, and a gentle approach, and she can surprise you. She once formed a beautiful bond with a man who took the time to earn her trust - they became incredibly close, showing that Luci can build bridges when she feels safe. Her Needs: �'ۢ A quiet, adult-only home with a female caretaker. �'ۢ Someone patient, trauma-informed, and familiar with anxiety in dogs. �'ۢ Continued use of anxiety meds (Prozac and GABA have helped). �'ۢ A gentle routine with lots of cuddles and daily leash walks - she loves walking and does great on-leash. �'ۢ No children. �'ۢ Female dog companions are welcome, and she may do well with the right male dog. �'ۢ Curious but non-aggressive with cats. She also does well in a sling, making outings or busy environments more manageable for her. Once she's bonded, Luci becomes your little shadow - affectionate, snuggly, and incredibly sweet. Luci isn't the kind of dog you adopt on a whim. She's the kind you commit to, earn the love of, and end up thanking the stars for every day. If you're the right person, she'll give you all of her heart.
