About Skylar

Looking to Rehome Skylar - 7-Year-Old Shiba Inu This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. Skylar is a beautiful Shiba Inu who will be 7 years old next month. I've had her since she was 12 weeks old, and she's been my loyal companion ever since. She can be incredibly sweet and cuddly once she trusts you, especially with a single owner. But she also struggles with sudden aggression, which I believe is rooted in trust issues. When she was a puppy, she was bullied by another dog, and since then she hasn't gotten along with other dogs. Cats are hit or miss, so ideally, Skylar should be the only pet in the home. Since having our baby in April, Skylar's behavior has worsened. She's bitten both me and my husband, and has started growling or snapping when he tries to put her leash on. I can't put our daughter at risk, no matter how much I love Skylar. This decision truly breaks my heart. We tried working with a trainer and saw some progress, but we didn't stay consistent with it. With the right person who has time, patience, and experience, I believe Skylar could thrive again.
