PERSONALITY: Cookie is super sweet, loyal, smart, resilient (great for small kids), and extremely cuddly and loving. He's makes so many silly faces and poses to get you to pet him, and he runs away from vacuums or instruments or anything that makes noises he cant understand lol. Whenever he sees other dogs he always wants to play with them so much. Recently, when I took him to a dog park for the first time in years, he got nervous and ran away from them but he never once growled or snapped at another dog, even when he was cornered and they were in his personal space. He hasn't really been around dogs other than his brother (an old shih-tzu), and his 'friend' (a neighbor's dog he used to play with), and the dogs he watches from the porch. He loves being involved in human activities and hes very active (he keeps the 12yo shih-tzu active too). When he's happy, he shakes not only his tail, but his entire backside too because his excitement cannot be contained. He would not make a great guard dog because he loves people, even strangers, so much and if you walk into the house and he hasn't seen/heard you yet, he will hide around the corner cautiously until he identifies you because he's a sweet little scaredy-cat. He seems to remember what time you usually get home and he spends a lot of time looking for you from the window, where he will be shaking his tail furiously. BREED: I am not sure what he is but i know he was bred locally by a rancher. He seems to be very interested in cattle on TV so I assume that's what they were bred for. He looks like a Drentse Patrijshond with black spots, or a Landseer Newfoundland with shorter hair, or a black-spotted Brittany. Maybe it will specify on his paperwork once I find it (if it exists). He doesn't get very smelly like some other breeds, somehow, and he rarely needs a haircut but he does shed. PURPOSE FOR RELOCATION: We moved into a small living space that cannot accommodate his size and energy levels, and most of the family is moving away which means that nobody will be home to spend time with him all day. He needs a yard to run around in and a family that can spend a healthy amount of time with him. He is worthy of so much love and we are approaching a point where we cannot grant him what he deserves because of occupational demands. FOR YOU: We love Cookie and don't want have to relocate him. However, we may not have a choice soon. I waived the fee because I do not want to gain anything financially from relocating a family member. However, this means that I will verify that you are a good owner. This is not a requirement: if you would allow us to see him on rare occasions, that would be appreciated. Just so your expectations are realistic: He knows that he shouldn't pee inside but changing his environment might be met with some initial learning curves (luckily, he doesn't pee on furniture but instead he'll try to pee in a large, flat area and its easier to clean IF accidents do occur). He does know how to use potty pads too. Similarly, if you have dogs already, it will almost always cause fights the first few days when introducing any new dog that isn't a puppy. This can be mitigated if the dogs first become friends in an area that neither dog claims, like a dog park and are integrated into the same home later. He also responds to 'Cooks' and he'll eventually respond to anything you call him. CONTACT INFO: If you're interested in getting more information (like his vaccination records that I need to track down), photos, or want to adopt him, please contact me at: [email protected] if I do not answer texts in a timely manner.
