X URGENT- ALBUQUERQUE, NM- Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department- Westside location - ID #A1916765- 1.5 YR 'OSO'- ADORABLE, FRIENDLY CHOW X AT 'HIGH RISK' OF EUTHANASIA PER SHELTER!! OSO IS AVAILABLE TO ADOPT, BUT SHELTER IS ASKING FOR HELP DUE TO URGENCY. WE ARE THEREFORE DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR A GOOD HOME, OR FOSTER AND RESCUE TO SAVE OSO IN TIME. Please help us find a loving home for young Oso who is as handsome as could be. The shelter just reached out to us to let us know that young Oso was back in the shelter after being adopted earlier this year, and is now at great risk for euthanasia sadly and very soon. Originally, Oso was surrendered with his sister after their owner reported they simply did not have time for them. The original owner reported both dogs as 'friendly with men, women, and children'. Additionally, both dogs were kept outside only and never walked. However, at the shelter, Oso learned to walk on a leash and 'warmed up quickly, running and playing with toys, jumping softly on people, leaning in and soliciting petting. He met another dog at the fence with soft face and body and tail wagging above spine.' Oso was then quickly adopted, neutered and already housetrained, followed by his sister being adopted who went to a different home. Sadly, though, Oso was just returned to the shelter after he and the other dog in his new home got in a fight over a toy. The shelter unfortunately did not have any information about the other dog, or if there were repeated fights or steps taken to prevent this. Fortunately, they were told 'there was no injury to the other dog, and the owner had a single puncture'. The owner said Oso 'was friendly with people, housetrained, and tried to door dash', and in their own words, 'Not compatible with other dog. resource guarding toys, other dog had one they got into a small fight and owners was accidently bit on arm when trying to break them up.' The shelter has noted, 'in the shelter that Oso loves his toys and can be very wiggly and playful with toys, including happily holding a toy in his mouth while he's getting petting and attention from people. But he does show some tension and body blocking if someone tried to take food or toys away from him. We have also noted that he can be tense about hands reaching towards his neck, especially when leashing or unleashing him. For these reasons we recommend a home with no kids, and of course a breed-savvy home would be ideal. Due to this history, Oso is now at risk of euthanasia. We are giving him a little more time, and he does not have a deadline yet, but he is at high risk.' Oso is adoptable with a behavior waiver.
