Geoffrey is a fun, loving, sweet, and friendly, eight-year-old, 6.8-pound, male Yorkshire Terrier looking for a loving guardian. Geoffrey just celebrated his eighth birthday: July 7, 2017. Geoffrey is a fun and active little dog who loves to give kisses, go for walks, play fetch, and enjoys meeting every person and dog he passes. In the home, he's friendly towards most dogs and all humans. He loves to snuggle in bed with you and sit in your lap during the day. He's not crate-trained (too barky), but he is housebroken and loves his walks. He's best in a house, versus an apt or condo with shared walls, because when he barks, it's loud. He barks to announce someone walking by, when he wants what you're eating, and when he wants to play. But, his barking is manageable and his way of communicating. Geoffrey came to Friends of Petraits Rescue when a dog-lover heard barks coming out of their neighbor's garage. She remembered a teenage boy who used to walk a Yorkie, but then stopped. Turned out, it was the kid's dog and when he tired of him, the family threw him in the garage and left him there. He had as that time only been to a vet one time when he was nine weeks old and just purchased. They happily relinquished him to rescue at the neighbor's suggestion. This guy is so social. The isolation alone could have killed him. But, he is resilient and incredibly loving. If he didn't have such a high prey drive, he would be staying with me. However, he enjoys barking at guinea pigs and cats. So, he deserves a home without felines and other critters. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Geoffrey, please fill out an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up to meet him by e-mailing [email protected] Geoffrey has been professionally groomed, neutered, vaccinated for rabies, bordetella and distemper, fecal and heartworm tested negative, on monthly heartworm and flea preventative, and micro-chipped. He also just had a dental cleaning and had 11 teeth pulled. Geoffrey's adoption fee of $500 benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. He comes with absolutely everything you need to care for him: food, bowls, leash, his favorite toys, bed, etc. He is being fostered in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood.
