About Peach

Adoption Fee: $25
Jack Russell
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Peach is a 3 year old female JRT. We brought her home from the pet store with pneumonia, had her treated, and tried everything to train her. She never has listened well. Despite constant attempts at potty training and crate training, she's never crate trained at all and potty training has been spotty. She will jump up on the couch and pee instead of ask out if given the chance. Sometimes she asks out, most of the time she doesn't. She goes after all snakes and we live on a farm - she has been bitten by a rattle snake (the same snake five times) because she wouldn't come back when called. She escapes everything at any cost. She's nearly ripped her toe off by climbing four feet up a kennel and shoving her way through two layers of chicken wire to get out the top. She rams our fence repeatedly to escape until there is enough give in the fencing to get her head through. She's gotten through three layers of heavy metal mesh fence. She digs up wire as well so wiring the bottom of a yard or kennel doesn't matter. If she can't climb up it and get out, she will dig out. She has shoved her way out of the yard and ran for the side of a cliff chasing a rabbit. She is aggressive with any maintenance person or person we have working on the house and has bit. It's not documented anywhere, but she has a bite history. She's very protective of her home to a severe fault. She never forgets who she's bitten and doesn't forgive. Recently, she dug out of her dog run, shoved her way through a fence, and forced her way into our rabbits rabbit run to kill him. All of these things were wired on the bottom and very secure for the average animal. She's tried to get our chickens, and kill any small animal she can find. She has been with cats and other dogs and has some aggression and dominance towards them but gets along okay as long as she's supervised. Shes never bit me or immediate household family including children, but I don't really trust her around the kids or, quite frankly, anyone. We've tried everything to train her and she is completely unresponsive to it. At this point she is a danger to the other animals on the farm, livestock, and to herself. If she stays here it's not a matter of when she gets bit by another rattle snake, or hurts herself in some way, it's when. She's an excellent mouser - she will chase them. Did them out, and kill them. She will kill any kind of vole or rodent she can. She's a good guard dog and alerts to anyone trespassing or any other predators. She would be an amazing hunting dog or bird dog as far as retrieval goes, but she would have to be trained to do such and as of right now can't be trusted off leash at all. I have spent probably around 6-8,000 on her total from bringing her home just to trying to keep her alive.
