Bart is currently participating in our comprehensive 8-week basic obedience training program designed for dogs. Throughout this course, he will focus on mastering fundamental commands that are essential for good behavior and communication, including 'sit,' 'stay,' 'come,' 'leave it,' 'down,' and 'heel.' In addition to these commands, Bart will engage in crate training, which helps him feel secure and comfortable in his designated space. He will also learn leash training techniques to walk calmly and obediently by his handler's side, fostering a more enjoyable walking experience. To further enhance his social skills, Bart will interact with other dogs and people in a controlled environment, allowing him to build confidence and learn appropriate social behaviors. Overall, this program is designed to ensure that Bart grows into a well-mannered and well-adjusted companion. Meet Bart, a delightful 1-year-old dog weighing in at a healthy 48 pounds. This charming boy found his way to our shelter as a stray, and unfortunately, we don't have a background on his previous life. Despite his initial shyness, Bart has a heart full of sweetness and love, though he may take a few moments to feel comfortable in new surroundings. Once he settles in, you'll see his playful spirit shine through. Bart is still a young pup and is adapting to the daily routines at the shelter. He thrives on social interactions, especially with other dogs, and loves to run and play with them in our play area. His eagerness to follow the lead of other dogs makes him a quick learner, which bodes well for his training. Bart is in excellent health; he is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and has been neutered. Additionally, he has tested negative for both heartworm and Lyme disease, giving you peace of mind about his wellbeing. If you're looking for a loving companion who just needs a little time to adjust, Bart could be the perfect match for you! **Interested in adopting?** To take the first step towards bringing this lovely dog into your home, please complete our online application at https://www.guernseycountydogshelter.com/ or click the round purple button to access it.
