About Peter

Peter is all hound! He's smart, active, loyal, and full of personality. At about 10 months old, just a big puppy who is looking for a committed family who understands that it takes time (3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine, and 3 months to be right at home!) for a dog to truly adjust. Sadly, Peter is still waiting for a forever home, not because he isn't wonderful (he's really the best boy!!), but because he needs structure, patience, and the right fit. Peter loves nothing more than to play. He loves to roughhouse with other dogs and while his play style can be strong at times for some more than others, he responds well to corrections and just needs the perfect playmate. He is highly food-motivated (which makes training a breeze). With that said, he'll need a confident owner who sets boundaries around mealtime. This boy is house-trained, crate-trained, and absolutely perfect on leash. He loves long walks, hikes, and staying active. He'll keep up with you every step of the way and will be right be your side through it all. At night, he sleeps well in his crate, though he can be vocal and on alert if he hears coyotes outside (true to his hound roots!). Peter is okay with cats when they're calm but will chase if they run, so a dog-savvy mellow cat household could work or a home with no cats. Peter currently lives in a household booming with kids, cats, and other dogs. He's truly a social dog and is fine being free range with all while foster parents are at work. He could also thrive as an only dog, he just needs an active owner who keeps him mentally and physically engaged. Peter is affectionate, loyal, and eager to please. He just needs someone who will give him the structure, time, and leadership he craves.
