About Truffles

Hi! My name is Truffles! I'm a young, female brindle mix with a big personality! My way of showing affection is by kissing and giving loving cuddles. I may not know my actual birthday but my energy suggests I am between 1-2 years old. I'm a nice size and after scoring a big snack I weigh about 40 pounds. Some of my favorite activities include going for walks, sunbathing, and napping under the covers. I also love toys! Since I tend to chew them to pieces, I need some of those tough toys and bones. Don't worry, I don't chew furniture or shoes. I walk about 30-40 minutes a day so I hope to continue this part of my routine. The long trip from Texas to MA terrified me, so I'm sorry I get nervous on car rides. If you have a fenced in yard, I will run for days outside! And while I'm out there, I will always watch for the chipmunks and squirrels. I play well with the other dogs here and like napping with them, but food makes me forget my manners. I don't like other dogs near my food and prefer to eat alone. With humans, I'm smart enough to know not to bite the hand that feeds me. I'm staying in a foster home where they take great care of me, but the house is awfully crowded. Like, really full. On the bright side that means I am never without an adult around. I'm really used to human companionship all day and it would be hard for me to be in a home where I'm all alone for long periods. The best thing about this full house is the four-legged human who joined the crew. I love being around my foster caretaker's baby and licking her feet. I'm told I'm a natural caregiver. I like big people, but once in a while I meet a person who gives me bad vibes, mainly strangers (you know the type). I don't have stranger danger, but we do use a trick to help me meet people. I put on my leash and go outside in an area I won't feel cornered. The new person and I play a game of ignoring each other. Whoever does it best wins a treat! When I am ready, I'll go sniff the person and eventually I feel comfortable. I keep hearing about something called a 'forever home' and I'd sure like to have one of my own.
