Meet Gracie - A Gentle Soul Ready to Be Loved Gracie is a beautiful petite 3-year-old Border Collie mix (~37 lbs) with the kindest heart and the sweetest eyes. Life didn't start out easy for her-she spent her early days in a horse trailer, often hungry and alone. But despite her rough beginnings, Gracie is full of love and hope. She's been learning what it means to feel safe, and now she's ready to find a home where she can continue to heal and thrive. (Her paw is wrapped because she has a cut on her pad thats healing). Gracie can be a little shy when meeting new people, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she blossoms. Once she feels secure, her affectionate personality shines through-she's a total snuggle bug who loves to curl up beside you and soak in all the love she missed out on. Every time you come home, she'll greet you with the happiest little dance, her tail wagging and heart full of joy. She's both house-trained and crate-trained and does well with other dogs. Her foster family says she enjoys the company of their dogs, but could also be an only dog. Gracie needs a cat-free home and would thrive in a calm, stable environment with adults or older children who can be mindful of her sensitivity to loud noises and new situations. Because of her past, she does have a bit of food guarding, but it's easily managed by feeding her in her crate-her safe place. She's learning leash skills and already knows how to come when called, sit, and go into her kennel when asked. With consistency and kindness, she continues to grow more confident each day. Gracie has a few places she feels most secure-her crate, the porch, and quiet corners where she can observe the world and feel protected. She's sensitive to sudden noises or raised voices, so she needs a patient adopter who will let her build trust at her own pace. What she really needs is someone to see her for the sweet, loyal, and resilient dog she is. She's stunning, both inside and out, and is so ready to love and be loved in return.
