Meet Penny, one incredibly lucky pup who's getting a fresh start and is ready to find her forever family! She is a purebred cocker spaniel (we think) and she came with her brother Pickles from Texas. She is 6 years old and about 23 pounds. This sweet dog tested positive for heartworm in Texas, but the great news is, she's already been treated and is happily on the mend! Thanks to effective new medications, heartworm is now highly treatable and no longer the daunting diagnosis it once was. All Penny needs now to stay healthy is a simple monthly preventative and possibly a follow-up test in six months to confirm she's completely clear. Penny is a wonderful example of resilience and is eager to share her loving spirit with a family who understands that with a little ongoing care, she's set for a long, happy, and healthy life!
