Adoption Fee: $500
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Meet Liam, a 3-year-old purebred Australian Shepherd (male, neutered) in search of a calm and experienced home. He is incredibly intelligent, affectionate, and a devoted cuddler who thrives on human companionship. Liam loves to play fetch, engage in nose work, and solve puzzles with his favorite Kongs and West Paws toys. His eagerness to learn new tricks and serenade his humans with his charming howls showcases his playful spirit. However, Liam requires a special kind of owner-someone experienced with high-energy and arousal-prone breeds. He is currently under twice daily medication (fluoxetine, trazadone, gabapentin) and needs ongoing positive training to manage significant behavioral issues. Liam is not suited for homes with other dogs or young children due to his overstimulation tendencies, which can lead to reactive behavior. While he's not 'aggressive', his arousal can result in attacks on other dogs, especially around resources or when he's over threshold. Since puppyhood, we have diligently worked with a trainer and behavioral vet to support Liam, but our home setup unfortunately triggers him often. We believe Liam can thrive in the right environment with patient and supportive guidance. Building trust with new people requires time and consistent training, but once bonded, Liam is incredibly loyal and loving. We deeply care for Liam and hope to stay in touch with his new family. Priority will be given to applicants in/near Mercer County, and we are committed to assisting with Liam's integration into his new home, including continued support from our trainer at our expense. To ensure Liam receives the care he deserves, we kindly request a $500 donation, which will contribute to his transition training. We also ask for references from your trainer and/or vet to ensure Liam's new home is the best fit for his needs. If you're ready to welcome a smart and affectionate companion into your life-one who thrives on love, patience, and structured support-Liam could be your perfect match!
