Please be aware we do not hold dogs until an appointment to meet them is scheduled. Sweet, shy with strangers, playful Poodle Mix Approximate DOB 9/5/2021 - About 12 lbs Kimber is a sweet, playful poodle mix once she trusts and loves you. She is extremely fearful of strangers and takes quite some time to trust new people. Kimber came out of a hoarding situation so loves other dogs but had very, very little socialization. Some days she is wonderful and comes to me for attention other times she runs from me like she did when we first met. Kimber will need a home with a secure yard due to her fearful behavior. She would do best in a home with at least one other dog to run and play with. She bonds strongly with her loved one but again is very fearful of strangers. Kimber would do best in an adult only home. She does use a dog door like a champ. She has never had an accident since having her dog door despite the home she came from being full of urine and feces. She is house trained and currently has the run of her fosters home and sleeps on a dog bed next to her bed or on the couch. She does not walk on a leash as she panics. She gets very scared but has never bit she's just a scared girl in new situations and around new people. But once she is comfortable and bonds she is the best, sweetest, most loving, goofy little girl ever. She accepts grooming so that is awesome as we have had to shave her a couple times since her hair is pretty fine and gets matted if not kept brushed and cut. Adopters interested in meeting her please be aware she will take some time to warm up. This is not the type of dog who will warm up in an hour or two while you are here. She is not going to eventually jump in your lap and show you affection- with this girl it may take a few days to a a few months we really don't know. But once she does bond with you and trust that you will not hurt her then she will play bow and bounce around and race around to play - she is the happiest girl. Sadly whoever chooses to give her a forever home will have to just trust us (we will be posting a video of her with me to show how she is with someone she loves and trusts- but even me some days she is wonderful and playful and other days she's a little more worried). Her forever family will need to take her home in a crate and earn her trust. She is worth it lol I promise you she does come out of her shell and becomes playful and loving it just takes a little more time. Because she is fearful a quiet, patient person/family is what she needs. Spayed, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations - Adoption Fee $200 includes her paperwork, collar, leash, and a gallon bag of food she is currently eating. We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. If you have other dogs it is recommended you bring them out to the meeting but not required. Steps for adoption: Read bio, email to request application or download it from the main website, fill it out completely and email it back, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet, schedule an appointment, directions will be emailed or text to you.
