About Maya

Maya is a 3-year-old mixed breed. I found her while I was living in Kuwait when she was about 2 months old. There are many dogs that were either abandoned or born on the streets of Kuwait. Dogs are treated very poorly over there so I brought her in and got her cleaned, fed, and vaccinated. I have another male dog that I rescued from the streets there as well. When I returned back to the U.S. last year, I brought them both back with me. Maya gets along with my male dog for the most part. They are good companions. However, Maya has a tendency to be territorial sometimes when it comes to my other dog. She has always been timid around strangers, likely due to her rough upbringing on the streets of Kuwait where they kick and throw rocks at dogs for fun. Since coming to the U.S., she has shown great improvement in her ability to meet strangers and becoming more trusting of people in general. She is such a sweet, loyal girl to the people that are close to her. She knows basic commands such as sit, lay down, paw (shake), and stay. She is also crate and potty trained. She loves being outside, chasing squirrels and rabbits, and laying in the grass. She doesn't mind the heat but I think she prefers the cold. She has been an inside dog ever since I rescued her, but she would make a great outside dog I'm sure. I've been taking care of Maya for 3 years now and this is one of the hardest decisions I've had to make. My living situation is changing and Maya is sadly is not a good fit for where I'm going. I have shown her lots of love and I want her to go to a loving home that will take care of her and give her the happiness that she continues to deserve.
