About Moose

Adoption Fee: $50
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

This is an incredibly hard post to write. Moose has been a part of our family for the past five years, and it breaks our hearts to say that we're looking to rehome him. We rescued Moose from the wild and have spent the last five years working with him through extensive training. He's housebroken, has good manners, and is deeply loving. Most of the time, he's an amazing dog-low energy for a cattle dog, incredibly loyal, and happiest when he's by his person's side. That said, Moose recently crossed a line and bit one of his owners. With a toddler in the house and another baby on the way, we just can't take the risk of this happening again. He has some reactivity, especially when surprised or handled assertively (e.g., sudden grabbing or unexpected touch), and while he currently lives with a toddler and has done well, we recommend a home with no children. Moose lives with another dog and has never had issues in that relationship. That said, he can sometimes be reactive during new dog introductions, especially with high-energy dogs who get in his face. He just needs a little time and space to warm up, and once he does, he's been perfectly fine with other dogs. Moose would thrive in a calm, structured home with someone who understands the breed and is willing to give him the space and consistency he needs. He's very much a 'one-person dog'-he'll tolerate other people in the house, but he forms a strong bond with his human. Moose has been blind for the past three years due to SARDS, but you'd barely know it. He navigates the world confidently using voice commands and adapts remarkably well to new environments. We believe Moose still has so much love to give, and in the right home, he'll be an incredible companion.
