Zinnia (Zinny) is a 5-year-old sweetheart with a snuggly spirit and a heart full of love. Originally rescued from Georgia, where she spent her early life chained outdoors, she's spent the last 3 years in a loving home in Maine. Zinny is affectionate and funny, with a deep loyalty to 'her people.' She's happiest snoozing near you, taking long sniffy walks, or playing with a favorite toy. She's quiet around the house and generally laid-back - though she may bark when the occasional mail or UPS truck rolls up. Zinny is looking for a new home due to a recent change in her household: a new baby. The baby's crying has made her increasingly anxious, and it's clear she'd thrive better in a quieter, more predictable environment. Like many cattle dogs, she bonds very deeply and can be protective of her loved ones. She has had two bite incidents. In both incidents, she was provoked by a new adult in the house who moved into her personal space. Neither incident required medical attention. Any potential adopter will need to commit to keeping Zinny at a safe distance and/or muzzled when meeting new people in the house. Zinny does very well with other dogs, and would do best in a home with dog experience, no small children, and a peaceful daily rhythm. She is not a dog for chaotic environments, but she's an incredibly loyal and loving companion for someone who values routine and gentle connection. Zinny's Favorite Things: Snoozing and snuggling next to her person, Long walks or quiet hikes, Chewy toys, a home where she feels safe and known. Zinny is housebroken, in good health, and up to date on her vaccines.
