About Dakota

Dakota is an amazing, sweet and loving 9 yr old boy. Koda weighs 50lbs a mini aisle. He has a blue Merle coat. He is happy to lay around the house and watch movies with the family (as long as they don't have any other dogs or horses on the show). He still has the energy of a dog half his age when it comes to time to play. He can be overwhelming with his love at times and will your invade your personal space for pets. He has no problem with strangers coming and going, but will demand there attention as well by either trying to sit on them or pawing for attention. He is food drivin and needs to be feed separate. He currently has 2 chihuahua brothers he loves, but would do best in a home where he is the only dog. Dakota does have some behaviors that are unfavorable. These developed after living in Puerto Rico and going through a major earthquake. He will eat undergarments if they are left in his reach but does not chew anything else. He knows many commands in Spanish and English. He walks on the leash but will become overly excited when seeing other dogs. He does well at the dog park once off leash. Dakota has been with me and my boys since a pup. He does very good with kids as long as real dog bones or food is not around. This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make and it is heartbreaking for my children, husband and I that we have to make this decision. Dakota needs a home that is experienced with the breed. He exhibits more Aussie traits than husky, but will run if he gets off leash. He will respond to his name however. My husbands health has declined and we are not able to provide the type of energetic life Dakota needs. He is not tested with cats, however he has chased some feral cats, but was best friends with a neighborhood cat that acted more like a dog. He is up to date on shots and heartworm with all vet records available for last 6 years. To ensure Dakota goes to a perfect home we do request vet reference. He also needs a home with 6ft fence.
