About Fitz

Adoption Fee: $100
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

A year and a half ago, we opened our hearts and home to Agent Fitz when a dear friend needed temporary care while traveling overseas. What was originally planned as a one-year arrangement has extended indefinitely, as their overseas commitment has been extended for several more years. While we've cherished our time with Fitz, we've reached the difficult realization that our current circumstances make it challenging to provide him with the stable, long-term home he deserves. (Please do not comment on original owners and whether they've helped out. The amount of support, etc., had been discussed and agreed upon with them and me, and an intended timeline.) We need to re-home at this time, and yes, I am in conversation with the original/previous owners. We are dear friends. Current Situation: As a single mother with a newly limited income this year, I'm facing several challenges that impact my ability to continue caring for Fitz properly: * Rising costs of food and veterinary care for a large breed dog * Difficulty securing pet-friendly housing within our budget for my original dog. * Boarding expenses when traveling to visit family have become financially prohibitive * Our lease has not been renewed, and finding affordable housing that accommodates two dogs while also needing a roommate has proven extremely difficult About Fitz: Fitz is 3 yrs, 2 mths, born April 9, 2022. He is a gentle, loving German Shepherd who serves as a wonderful companion rather than a working dog. He would thrive in a family environment, particularly with children aged 4 and older, and would greatly benefit from having a spacious backyard to enjoy. Health & Care: * Current on all vaccinations (records available) * Has sensitive skin/possible allergies - comes with prescribed medication * Has a sensitive stomach. Currently eats lamb with homemade veggie toppers, occasionally beef or chicken toppers in an attempt to acclimate him to other foods. * Receives bi-annual veterinary care What's Included: * Harness and leash * Food bowls and remaining food * Deshedding comb * Allergy medication * Complete vaccination records Rehoming Process: * $100 rehoming fee to ensure commitment to his care * Meet-and-greet at your home to ensure compatibility * Open to answering any questions about his care and personality This decision comes from a place of love and wanting what's best for Fitz. I'm committed to finding him a family who can provide the stability, space, and resources he needs to thrive.
