About Jackson

Looking for a new home for Jackson, a 5-year-old , healthy, pure bred Miniature American Shepherd. However, he's large for a mini, about 60 pounds. He's neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. I'm recently retired and planning to move to the east coast. I will probably be living in an apartment or condo, so it won't be the best living arrangement for him. He is a sweet boy and well socialized. He loves meeting people and gets along well with other dogs. He gets excited when greeting new people and when going for walks, but settles down quickly. He loves following me around the yard when working in the garden, which we spend hours doing. He likes playing tug with rope toys and chasing bubbles, balls, sticks and frisbees. During the summer we sometimes go to dog parks for play with other dogs. Occasionally he goes to doggie daycare and has been boarded once for a couple of days. He goes to the groomer regularly for bathing, brushing and nail care. There have been no problems with all these activities. Jackson is a barker. He barks anytime someone comes to the door, which is fine as I wanted a dog that would alert. However, he also barks excitedly at feeding times, treat times, and when getting ready to go for walks. To stop the barking, just point a spray bottle of water at him and he settles down. He's lived with me and my disabled adult son, in a house with a fenced backyard. We also have an elderly mini-Aussie. Not sure how Jackson will react to small children or cats. Please contact me if you think he would be a good fit for you and your lifestyle.
