About Barnaby

Hello!! Unfortunately am needing to rehome our small dog as she is not adjusting well to our new baby and is showing signs of aggression towards her. We have tried keeping them separated 100% of the time, but it's not realistic to be able to maintain that long-term. Barnaby is a 13 year-old female Dach/Chi mix (chiweenie) that I've had since she was a puppy. She's a very affectionate and sweet dog, but does have some anxiety and just has not adjusted to our 1-year old in the house. She will need to go to a home with only older kids (teenager) or no kids at all. She's pretty low energy and just wants to hang out with people, so ideally someone who works from home or is around most of the day. She lives with a cat now and they get along fine, so I imagine another cat would be OK too. She previously lived with another small chihuahua, but she definitely has a strong fear of big dogs. She's house trained and very smart, but has the dachshund stubbornness. She is a senior dog and has a couple of health considerations. She has low thyroid and needs to take a daily pill for that (very easy to give her and very inexpensive, about $40 for a 6-month supply). She also is on a special diet to prevent pancreatitis (and shouldn't have people food). I am happy to provide a 6-month supply of her medicine, food, toys, beds, leashes, etc., and anything else that could make her transition go smoothly.
