Meet Oscar - A Gentle Soul Looking for a Quiet, Loving Home Oscar is a beautiful, approximately 7.5-year-old cat with a tender heart and a sensitive soul. He's had a difficult few years, and while this decision breaks our hearts, we know the best thing for him now is to find a peaceful, patient home where he can truly feel safe and loved again. Oscar has a heart condition - a stable leaky valve on the right side - which doesn't currently require medication or intervention, but it's something his future family should be aware of and monitor with a vet's guidance. More than anything, though, it's his emotional health that needs the most care. After losing two cats he was deeply bonded with, Oscar has become extremely fearful and skittish. He now spends most of his time hiding under the bed, only venturing out to eat or use the litter box. We've been trying Prozac to help with his anxiety, but it hasn't made a noticeable difference so far. Even a small noise sends him running for cover again. But Oscar's story isn't just one of fear - it's also one of love. At night, when the house is quiet, Oscar transforms. He creeps onto the bed, curls up beside me under the covers, and purrs so hard he drools. It's clear he wants connection - he just needs the right environment and a lot of patience to find his way back to it. We've been through multiple vet visits trying to solve recent issues between him and our other cats. Despite dental work to address his swollen gums (his teeth look great now!), the aggression between them has only worsened. It's now to the point of injury, and we've exhausted every option - separate feeding areas, calming collars, Feliway diffusers, everything. Unfortunately, Oscar is no longer safe in our multi-cat household. He's also very afraid of our child, despite her gentle nature, and will bolt at the sound of her footsteps. But surprisingly, Oscar gets along very well with our two dogs, who are calm and respectful. This is not an easy decision for us. Oscar has been so loved, and we never imagined rehoming any of our pets, let alone him. But it's clear that he's not happy here anymore, and we want more than anything for him to have the chance to feel safe and relaxed again. Oscar is best suited to an adult-only home with no other cats, though cat-friendly dogs may be okay. He needs someone with experience and a deep well of patience-someone who understands that it may take weeks or even months before he starts to show his affectionate, cuddly side. But once he does, he's a total love bug who just wants to snuggle and be near his person. We're looking for someone who will see beyond his fear and give him the time and space he needs to bloom again. If you think you could be that person for Oscar, please reach out. He may be a special-needs kitty, but he has so much love to give - he just needs the right home to give it in.
