URGENT: Gizmo Will Be Dropped at a Kill Shelter July 1st This sweet senior boy is at risk of losing his life simply because his owners are moving and can't take him. Gizmo needs a miracle-a committed foster, adopter willing to give him a second chance. Meet Gizmo Breed: Small Mixed Breed Age: 10+ years old Color: Brown and white Sex: Male (Not neutered) Rescue will pay to have him fixed Size: Small Energy Level: Low House-trained: Partially - Uses pee pads but may have accidents About Gizmo Gizmo was originally taken in by his current owner from their grandmother and has lived with adults for the past two years. He's a couch potato who enjoys his quiet space and prefers affection on his own terms. Most of his time is spent lounging in the bedroom. Behavior Notes Strangers: Shy; prefers to approach when comfortable Children: Actively avoids; may growl or bark-not recommended for homes with children Other Dogs: Can be fearful and reactive, especially at first Cats: Avoids them Resource Guarding: Protective of food; Bite History: One minor bite (did not break skin) during grooming in 2021 Grooming Sensitivities Gizmo does not tolerate grooming-including bathing, brushing, or nail trimming. He becomes very fearful and may try to bite when handled this way. Additional Info Doesn't like being outdoors; short walks only (around 10 minutes) Pulls on leash Not crate trained Nervous in cars Eats both wet and dry food (Purina Moist & Meaty Burgers with Cheese) Last vet visit was 9/12/2024 at the Animal Hospital of Brooklyn Ideal Home for Gizmo Gizmo would do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced, patient adults who understand fearful dogs. No kids, no high-traffic households, grooming best with a patient experienced professional handler who can work slowly with him over time or try a muzzle . Please don't let Gizmo die in a shelter.
