About Smokey

Smokey is one of 11 dogs, and he is just too big for us to handle right now. We have had him for 2 almost 3 years. He has been hit by a car twice.. once as a puppy, and once when he went missing for a few weeks. He is such a loving boy, and we want him to go to someone who is willing to dedicate their time to him, and love him as much as we have. He absolutely adores kids, especially babies, but doesnt ways recognize how big he truly is. He has shadow blindness, meaning if someone is in a dark or shadowed area, he does get spooked and barks out of protection. Prior to us bringing him in our home, he was an outside dog, who hunted coyotes, and kept his home guarded. He also was stabbed in the left back leg, but didnt leave any lasting damage. We want someone who is going to keep him inside unless taken outside to go to the bathroom. He is potty trained, crate trained, and completely house trained. He knows sit, lay, speak, and back up. He does have issues with getting on our counters for food, but due to his past traumas of having to scavenge to survive, we want someone who is willing to accept that it might happen on occasion.
