About Jovie

Location: Columbus, OH Food: Bark Kibble of the Sea When Jovie arrived, she didn't know how to 'dog.' Like, at all. No leash skills. No concept of toys. She didn't even feel safe eating. If I reached out to pet her, she'd drop to the ground trembling - and sometimes pee herself - fully expecting the worst. She had clearly been through it. We know she had at least one litter of puppies before turning one. Her eyes looked vacant. Her body crouched low. Her spirit? Barely there. Now fast-forward to today and allow me to introduce you to the miracle that is Jovie 2.0. We bonded over snacks and car rides (french fries heal trauma, don't ask me why), and she started to come alive. She learned to fetch - like a real, actual dog. She picked up basic commands instantly (I'm still not convinced she didn't sneak in some YouTube tutorials). She initially treated the crate like a personal enemy and broke out a few times just to prove a point. But after a few days of patience and routine, she now goes in quietly, sleeps through the night, and sees it as her own space. We're still working on leash manners - she has strong opinions about squirrels and wind - but she improves every single day. Jovie likes swimming (bonus points if you have a lake to visit), adores other dogs, and is just genuinely thrilled to exist. She reads dog energy incredibly well - plays if they're into it, ignores if they're not. She's excellent in the car, great with people and kids, and is totally cool with your 9-5 routine. Oh, and did I mention she's a Beabull? That means she's got the bulldog face with the energy of a toddler who just discovered sugar (in short spurts). Wrinkly and functional - the ultimate combo. Jovie is the kind of dog that reminds you why rescue work matters. She's proof that love, structure, snacks, and a little sarcasm can change everything. Now she just needs someone to love her as hard as she loves life.
